Exploring the Interactions between Soluble Spider Silk Proteins and Textile Fabrics

Growing environmental concerns and shifting regulatory frameworks are driving the home care industry toward more sustainable cleaning solutions. This article investigates a water-soluble spider silk protein as a sustainable alternative raw material for laundry applications. Fluorescence imaging confirms that the proteins form uniform coatings on cotton, polyester, and polyamide fibers, highlighting its strong affinity for a range of textile substrates. These promising results provide a foundation for future research to further investigate and unlock potential performance and sustainability benefits in consumer care formulations.
