A journey of continuous improvement since 2020

The EcoVadis Gold Medal marks an important milestone in Vytrus’ sustainability journey. Since 2020, the biotech company has been progressively strengthening its sustainability practices, setting measurable objectives and incorporating ESG criteria — Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance — into its business model, which have helped it achieve Ecovadis recognition since that year.

Among the initiatives supporting this progress are an ESG roadmap aligned with the United Nations Global Compact, water and CO₂ reduction goals, partnerships with social and research organizations, and measures promoting diversity, equality and inclusive professional opportunities.

For Vytrus, sustainability is not an isolated area of action, but a strategic pillar connected to its business model. The company’s plant biotechnology platforms are built around the efficient and responsible use of natural resources, enabling the development of high-value cosmetic active ingredients while contributing to a more sustainable approach to innovation in the beauty industry.

This recognition highlights Vytrus’ long-term commitment to continuous improvement, responsible decision-making and positive impact throughout its organization and stakeholder ecosystem.

The EcoVadis method

EcoVadis is a globally recognized provider of business sustainability ratings, used by more than 150,000 companies across 180 countries and 220 industries. Its platform helps companies monitor, benchmark and improve their sustainability performance across their operations and value chains, providing detailed ratings, scorecards, improvement tools and recognitions such as EcoVadis medals and badges.

The EcoVadis rating methodology assesses the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through three core pillars: Policies, Actions and Results. These are analyzed through seven management indicators: policies, endorsements, measures, certifications, coverage, reporting and 360° Watch findings.

The assessment is based on 21 sustainability criteria across four themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The methodology is adapted to each company’s activity, size and location, and combines company documentation, third-party endorsements and external stakeholder inputs from EcoVadis’ 360° Watch.

Sustainability as a shared commitment

The EcoVadis Gold Medal recognizes the collective effort of the entire Vytrus team and the progress achieved in embedding sustainability across the company’s culture, processes and decision-making.

As Vytrus continues to grow internationally, the company remains committed to advancing responsible practices, reducing its environmental impact, supporting people and communities, and strengthening ethical and sustainable decision-making across its value chain.

This achievement represents a new step in Vytrus’ mission to transform plant biotechnology into high-performance, sustainable and scientifi
